Enclosure & Protection Class Advisor
IP20, IP31, IP33, and IP4X map to real siting scenarios — from restricted-access substation rooms to semi-outdoor canopy installs. Answer two questions to find your starting point.
1. Where is the unit sited?
2. How much dust or moisture exposure is expected?
IP4X
Semi-outdoor and canopy-covered sites need the highest ingress protection in our standard range to handle wind-driven dust and moisture without a fully sealed enclosure.
IP20
A restricted-access room with low dust/moisture exposure only needs basic finger-touch and coarse-object protection — the standard baseline for supervised substation rooms.
IP33
High dust or moisture exposure calls for a sealed enclosure rated against water spray and finer particulate ingress, even indoors.
IP31
A general indoor electrical room with moderate exposure typically fits our IP31 enclosure — sealed against dripping water and coarse dust without the added cost of a fully outdoor-rated housing.
